Vice President Leni Robredo and Mocha Uson Reconciled! Read More About This Peace Offering!

  • Vice President Leni Robredo and Mocha Uson have reconciled their differences.
  • In an online poll created by Mocha, Robredo led the survey with 81% of the vote.
  • Robredo was part of the Duterte cabinet as housing chief, but quit her post after 6 months.

Vice President Leni Robredo was thankful for Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson’s show of support, after including her in a Twitter poll for the position of Social Welfare Secretary.
Based on the online poll, which ended on August 17, Robredo garnered 81 percent of the votes cast, equivalent to 16,432 responders. Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Lorraine Badoy was a far second with 6 percent, followed by Monica Prieto-Teodoro, wife of former Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro, with only 2 percent.

Said unsolicited survey was created after presidential appointee Judy Taguiwalo was turned down by the Commission on Appointments for the third time last August 16.

In her Sunday program, BISErbisyong Leni, Robredo was surprised that Uson, a known diehard supporter of President Duterte, considered her a candidate for the position.

“Nagpapasalamat na din tayo kay Asec. Mocha Uson, na pagpapakita siguro na may tiwala na puwede tayong humawak ng ganiyang kabigat na puwesto,” she said during the program.

However, Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said that to consider Robredo as Taguiwalo’s replacement might be a difficult choice for the President.

“For the plain and simple reason that, for example, she has already resigned (from a Cabinet post),” Abella answered.
Robredo was the chairperson of the Housing and Urban Development Coordination Council until she resigned from her post on December 4.

Through a text message, the Vice President was asked to desist from attending Cabinet meetings. There were “irreconcilable differences” that made the President feel uncomfortable around Robredo during the meetings.
But Abella clarified that, despite these, Duterte still has the last word.
On the other hand, Uson was appointed as assistant secretary for social media at the PCOO, after her brief stint on the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board last January.

Prior to the government position, Uson’s blog and Facebook page gained a massive following for staunchly attacking Duterte’s critics.

Uson reacted to a news article that declared the poll had ‘backfired,’ insisting that she is not biased.
She wrote, “Nag pa-survey lang ‘nag-backfire’ na??? Hindi ba pwedeng hindi lang biased??? Mmmmmm napapaghalataan na kayo News5.”
