Called on the Internet as “Meth Curry”, he was subjected to laughter and discrimination from the World Wide Web. What’s his story? Well, his name is Leon Mitchell and he is one tough cancer survivor who fought hard!
In 2005, he fought nasopharyngeal carcinoma, a rare type of cancer that forms in the throat and the nose. Of course, because of this, he lost a lot of weight, especially around his face.
“I’ve struggled deeply for years with the devastating effects cancer treatment plagued my body with,” the man said.
Apparently, the photo that turned him into a meme was him when he was undergoing chemotherapy that saved his life.
He posted on Instagram his side of the story and it was definitely something that deserves a standing ovation.
“I’ve struggled deeply for years with the devastating effects cancer treatment plagued my body with. The massive destruction it took on my neck, shoulders, nose, throat, and ability to function normally,” he said.
He said that he is strong and he can take the hits but things like this are definitely detrimental to just about any person who becomes the other end of the joke. He also said that the meme was a reminder to him of how people could be cruel and distasteful without even looking at the background knowledge of a certain person.
He added, “If we are going to allow something like this go viral Let’s do it for the right reasons!”
His post had three pictures which were titled, “The Meme”, “The Cancer Survivor” and “The Successful Business Owner.”
